D-21 Drone Upgrade Set (for Clear Prop)

This 1:48 detailing/upgrade set is designed to take your Clear Prop D-21 drone kit to the next level of accuracy and detail.

My upgrade set includes:

• Redesigned, more accurate engine sets with a one-piece nozzle
• A new intake with one-piece spike
• Corrected back plate
• Better proportioned pitot
• Camera unit behind the glass

These refinements address several shortcomings of the original kit and improve overall fit and finish - developed in parallel with my own build of D-21 #503, the first drone launched from the M-21 on March 5, 1966.

The Lockheed D-21 is a fascinating chapter in Cold War aviation, and this upgrade set for the Clear Prop Kit is a small nod to its bold design and legacy.

Check out some pictures of my completed build below, created for my model club's annual exhibition themed around reconnaissance. It was a race against the clock (the paint was still drying on Friday night!), but the final result highlights just what this detailing set adds - even with a few decals on the dolly still to come.
